Welcome back...as you begin your second journey with ITP think about the conversations we had the last time we were together about building meaningful activities/scaffolds for students. What do you remember and what would you like to learn more about?

I am looking forward to making some new scaffolds. What I remember is keep it simple and focused! The first time we did this years ago we started too large.

Enjoyable first day. It was great to get us involved with the video first. That was a super motivator. Thanks tons for the flip video. It is GREAT. By the way, what time do we start tomorrow morning? I realize that breakfast is at 7:30, but what is our schedule for training throughout the week?

I remember the last time I was nearly illiterate. I feel slightly more confident, but still have a million miles to go. Would like to learn more about using all this new stuff in my classroom.

I remember a little about scaffolds. They are a way to lead students through an activity with some help. The help is to give prompts for success when they are beginning to learn about a concept. At least, that is what comes to mind.

What comes to mind is a lot of necessary exposure to UBD, and then we scaffolded by designing lessons that each built upon the other.

What I remember is UBD. I finally understand the process we learned in developing curriculum.

I am mostly interested in learning how to use my new whiteboard, get totally comfortable with my new computer, and learn how my new toys can save me PAPER! I am totally excited about having a way for students to see themselves through the Flip video camera so they can improve their speech techniques.

I remember that I needed to think of the end product first and work my way back. What I would like to learn more is about using the ActivBoard in a meaningful way. Of course, that wasn't part of my first ITP experience, but that is something in which I'm really looking forward.

Last time: Keep it meaningful and purposeful.
This time: Keep it meaningful and PURPOSEFUL. If it doesn't work in the classroom - don't do it!!!

When I went through ITP 8 or 9 years ago, Understanding by Design was the overarching organizer we used for our work. I remember being wowed by hidden text and hidden slides and wondering how to add pictures to the background of excel to create annotated maps. Oh yeah and "Burn Time" was the best!! Spending way to much time on flaming text in power point, I felt like my students.

I am really excited to learn how to use the active boards. Projects are cool but I always struggled with how to use the technology daily. Active boards really seem like something that can fill that niche.
